General Entry Requirements
You can apply to a Higher Learning Institute if you are:
To be enrolled in any degree programme offered by a Tanzanian Higher Learning Institution, you must have at least three credits at O-Level and two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points in two subjects in your A-Level exams. (Where A=5; B=4; C=2; D=1; E=0.5).
For applicants holding foreign qualifications, you must have your qualifications validated and equated by the respective regulatory bodies before submitting your applications for admissions as follows: a. The National Examinations Council of Tanzania in respect of certificates of secondary education and teacher education; and b. The National Council for Technical Education in respect of NTA level 6 qualifications.
You can apply to a Higher Learning Institute if you are:
- A Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) applicant
- A form six leaver who sat NECTA Examinations
- A form six leaver who sat Examinations of Other Foreign Boards (Holders of Foreign Certificates either O-Level, A-Level, or Both).

If you are a holder of foreign certificates from other examination boards, different from NECTA, you will need to present your certificates to NECTA for verification and equivalent grades. Following this, you should present certified copies of equivalence letters and certificates to TCU for application approval.

- Lodge your application form to your chosen institution(s). Applications will open around June for applicants who completed FR and Diploma in previous years, and in July for applicants who have completed F6 and Diploma that year.
- Deadline for the first round of applications will be during August, second round at the start of September, and the third round at the end of September.
- Your institution will analyse your application form
- You will be informed of invitation to interview, or receive a non- admission notification.
- After interview, you will receive admission or rejection. The deadline for HLIs to submit all students will be at the end of November.
